Don't Skip!

What you should know about skipping meals.

"I didn't feel like cooking."

"I'm not hungry."

"I can't lose weight/inches and I only eat once a day."

Make changes and not excuses. Deprivation of nutrients causes your body to shut down and do into recovery mode. Missing and skipping meals slows down your metabolism, reduces energy, and causes tiredness and fatigue. In addition, our bodies contains an alarm (body stress hormone) that activates when you skip meals. This hormone is called cortisol and it affects the part of the brain that works with your mood, motivation, and fear. The triangular glands located about your kidneys is your cortisol.

When your cortisol is settled due to your body having sufficient nutrients, it controls how your body uses protein, fats, and carbohydrates (aka fuels for your body - no fuel and you're stuck). Stabilizes blood sugar levels, reduces fatigue and improves sleep, increases energy and lessens bodily stress.

As often mentioned, do not skip meals. Granted situations/emergencies arise, and can cause us to get off track every once in a while; however, just reset and get back into routine the following day or when is feasible. And if your not hungry during breakfast, lunch, or dinner...just have a small controlled snack, smoothie or a protein shake. Oftentimes, when you're not hungry the idea of chewing isn't appeasing, and drinking is. That's when smoothies and protein shakes definitely come in clutch.
